DUBAI

I was watching a show about Dubai, on the Discovery Channel the other day, it was so amazing, some of their buildings are the highest in the world. And, it's all owned by one singel person, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, he is basicly the king of Dubai, his family took charge back in the mid 1800s.
This Island, is doing nothing but getting bigger and bigger, they have several other Islands, all these islands were made by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with billions of tones of sand to make them, so that way more people can live there. This is basicly a world of its owned, they have indoor ski mountains to ski on, and all the snow is fack. A hotel and restrant that everything (as far as dishes go) are glass, it was weird watching about Dubai. Everything is owned by one guy, and everything goes through him.
I wonder what causes him to do all this, its like simcity for the average person, do you think it's just something he enjoys doing, making some of the worlds most awesome buildings? And they are amazing, here is a link, so you can see some of them, http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=dubai&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Fey Vs. Palin

Tina Fey, of Saturday Night Live has made a name for her self, as you may know, she has been doing reenactments, if you will, of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. I wounder if something like this has an effect of how people will vote. Fey, does a really good job at acting like Palin, it's kind of scary watching how good she is. However, they do make-fun of both parties.

So even though Tina Fey does a great job at making-fun of Sarah Palin will it effect peoples vote? I don't think it will, I mean just because she does do a good impression does not mean people think that's how Sarah Palin i in real life. And they also make-fun of the other party too. One of their first Palin impersonations, was also with Hilary Clinton, and Hilary, said "the media needs to grow a pair, and if they couldn't they could use hers" (You can see it on YouTube here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jGcrfH0KjM) but just because some actor says something about another person does not mean it's going to change a persons opinion about them.

I like Sarah Palin, but just because Saturday Night Live makes-fun of her does not mean I like her less, in fact, it kind of makes me like her better. So what do you think? Do shows like Saturday Night Live change a persons opinion on another person? or could it?

DOES OUR VOTE COUNT?

During any election, but manly the Presidential elections, does our vote really count? Could it be where people with higher power already know who will be the next president, but they make us feel like we have a chose, and have to power to vote into office who we want. Media is so world wide, any average Joe can state his opinion on the Internet and try to persuade other people the vote for the person he likes. Is this just something to make us feel more like we have a say. You hear all the time how we live in a free country, (which it's a lot better than any country out there) but come-on, we don't get to vote for who we want for president, if that was the case I'd vote for Mike Huckabee, but it's the people with the power who says who we get to vote for, they narrow it down to two people, that we get to vote between.

We do get to vote, but does it count? Today the media makes us, (the people) feel like we hold such a strong seat when it comes to elections, we get to state our opinions, we get to vote for who we want, we can even make our own blog, to project our believes to anyone who will read it.

So what do you think, does the government already know who will be the next president and does the media play it up so we think we need to vote, or does our vote really count?
